Sepia Saturday #321: Hairy Kiss

Most of the men in my family spent a fair amount of time in uniform; I have a surfeit of uniform photos. In the kissing department however, my family really falls flat. I couldn't find a single photo that remotely matched the prompt. Luckily, I did remember this delightful photo of my dear friend Zouzou kissing a llama, which I think is a qualifier.

Why? Clearly there's kissing involved - actually better kissing than the prompt, because you can see what's going on in my photo, puckering and so forth. One of the kissers is very hairy and one of the kissers is a woman. Where I fall down on the match is with the audience. In my photo, there's only a disinterested llama in the background and not a sea of hat-topped amused faces. So, I've added another photo of a jovial crowd which, if I could meld the two pictures together would "check all the boxes" on the prompt.

Just in case no Sepian uses this image below, I have to add it as it's one of my favorites.  Actually, a statue called "Unconditional Surrender" by Seward Johnson, it's based on the famous photo by Alfred Eisenstaedt, "V-J day in Times Square" and located on the Greatest Generation walk on the downtown San Diego waterfront.

Grab your hat and visit Sepia Saturday for more spectacular kisses.

  1. Your lovely llama kiss photo gave me an idea for my blog. I didn't think llamas were all that friendly!

  2. I think your llama photo qualifies -- certainly a hairy instigator, certainly a woman recipient!

  3. I took my 3 year old son to a petting zoo once. He had a great time petting all the little goats & lambs running around, but a llama came up behind me & took a big chomp out of my basket purse which was a bit of a bummer!

  4. Great photos and you must win the prize for the most exotic recipient of a kiss!

  6. Couldn't be better!
I love that "kissing statue" in San Diego. I've taken a lot of pictures of it. Some of my favorites are couples having their pictures taken while kissing in front of the statue.

  7. Zouzou is a braver person than I am. It is a nice photo and the background is beautiful. Do you know where they are?

  8. I love the llama photo! And Zouzou is lucky to have a kiss and not some other llama specialty, spitting.

  9. Great success at the kissing and even a vintage photo of a crowd!

  10. So brave of Zouzou! I like the idea that you have added a crowd separately. You certainly ticked all the boxes.
