Great plastic food displays...

  1. I love these photos. I've always been in awe of the Japanese faux food. They're masters at getting it just right. Looks good enough to eat. Richard's rice garnish not so much. The gift packages make a lovely photo. And the cherry blossoms - wow. Looks like you're having a great trip so far. How are the feet holding up? Or have you started walking yet?

  2. Speaking of walking (this is a continuation of the above comment), my toenail which was hanging on by a thread fell off Tuesday night. I'm hoping it didn't happen at the book club at Kathy's and she's going "huh, what's this. Yuk a toenail!!" So far, I haven't found it. I was wearing thongs at the time so who knows where it might be. Now my toe looks awful. I'm totally disfigured. And it's all from walking too much. So be careful on your hike.

  3. In regards to the fake food displays, many manufacturers in Japan have workshops where visitors can partake in them for a small fee to create their own fake food as a souvenir. If you have time, I would highly suggest you give it a try.
