Neka, Ubud Bali

There's little security in the Neka Art Museum and one can freely stroll around examining the canvases as closely as you wish. No roped off areas, no glass over the paintings. It's pleasant but worrisome. We asked Wayan our driver about the lack of protection for the art and he replied in wonder, "Why would you need that?"

In Bali, 5:00 p.m. is the wrong time to visit an non air conditioned museum. The heat and humidity builds during the day and closed-in spaces are suffocatingly hot. Not a breath of air could be found in the museum's halls and we were quickly dripping with sweat. Next time we'll be there when the doors open in the morning.

My scultped friend certainly shows me up in the breast department but notice how jealously she's eyeing my Indian necklace. I should have left it around her neck.

With Dougie Wayan, our indispensable driver.
